Worcestershire opener Richard Oliver is certainly leading by example with the bat while skippering Geelong City in Australia this winter.
The 25-year-old is Geelong's leading run-scorer in two-day and 50 over cricket in Division One of the Geelong Cricket Association.
Oliver, who earned a contract with Worcestershire last summer until the end of the 2015 season, has amassed 279 runs in his five innings to date at an average of 55.80.
The former Shropshire captain scored 116 against Murgheboluc and also has notched two other 50 plus scores – 65 off the Grovedale attack and 68 in this weekend's win over Newtown and Chilwell.
His efforts have helped Geelong into second spot in the table with four wins and 24 points from five games – six points adrift of leaders East Belmont.
Five teams are in joint third position on 18 points.
Oliver is well clear in the Geelong runs tally table of Thomas Elliott who is next best with 171 at an average of 42.75.
But he will be hoping for better fortunes in the T20 competition after scores of 10 and nine in his first two appearances.
It was his performances in the NatWest T20 Blast with Worcestershire when on a six week trial that helped secure Oliver his contract at New Road.
