Oliver Hopes To Help Geelong City Step Up Division One Title Challenge

Richard Oliver's side Geelong City will look to step up their title bid when they start a two day match away to Bell Post Hill in Division One of the Geelong Cricket Association tomorrow.

Worcestershire opener and Geelong skipper Oliver's 68 helped his side defeat Newtown and Chilwell last weekend to cement second spot in the table.

But Bell Post will be no pushovers and are currently one of five sides in joint third position – six points adrift of Geelong. The match will be concluded on November 29.

Prospect CC's Ross Whiteley will hope to maintain the form he demonstrated in last week's draw with Sturt in a two-day clash this Saturday and Sunday at home to Port Adelaide in the South Australian Cricket Association 'A' grade.

The New Road all-rounder hit 98 not out and was denied a second century for Prospect this winter by the weather.

Joe Leach's side North Canberra Gungahlin will face bottom placed visitors Ginninderra in a Australian Capital Territory first grade meeting.

The Northies are currently occupying joint third spot and will face a team who have lost five of their opening six games.

Leach's club are level on points with Queanbeyan District for whom his county colleague Ed Barnard will be striving for another sizeable contribution against second placed Western District UC after his 76 in the win over Tuggeranong Valley.

Worcestershire duo Ben Cox and Jack Shantry may be required to continue their excellent form with the bat if Greenvale Kangaroos are to overcome Northcote in their Victorian Premier Cricket Bartercard Men's Premier Firsts meeting.

The Kangaroos are chasing a 262 target on the second day of their encounter after replying with 16-1 last weekend.

Cox is averaging 74 and Shantry 54.33 so far this winter.

South Perth, for whom England Under-19 wicket-keeper Joe Clarke hit 52 not out of 279-7 on the opening day, will conclude their Western Australian Cricket Association clash with Subiaco Floreat.
