One-Day Cup – Possible Permutations For Rapids

One-Day Cup – Possible Permutations For Rapids

Worcestershire Rapids are guaranteed a money-spinning home match in the knockout stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup – the first time they have achieved that since the competition was rebranded.

The Rapids took their points tally to 11 from seven games with a 15 run victory against visiting Durham Jets today.

But whether that lucrative game at New Road will be a second versus third play-off or a straight semi-final tie will depend on the results in the final round of North Group games on Tuesday.

IF the Rapids, who currently top the North Group, defeat Derbyshire Falcons at the 3aaa County Ground then a place in the semi-final – and one match from a possible Lord's final – will be secured.

That outcome will mean everything is cut and dried and results elsewhere will be insignificant with the Rapids home on June 16 or 17.

Should the Rapids be beaten by the Falcons in the day-night fixture they could still end up in pole position if nearest challengers Yorkshire Vikings lose at home to Leicestershire Foxes.

But if the Rapids taste defeat, and the Vikings win, they will have to settle for a home match against the third best placed team in the South Group on June 13.

Then the victors in that game will travel away in the semi-finals on June 16 or 17.
