Parnell Heading To Uae After Stint At Blacfinch New Road

Worcestershire CCC all-rounder Wayne Parnell will be striving for more T20 glory next month when he heads to the United Arab Emirates.

The 29-year-old is flying out this weekend from England and will be competing in the inaugural Afghanistan Premier League.

Parnell, fresh from helping the Rapids to their Vitality Blast success and signing a new three year contract with the County, will play for the Kabul franchise.

Parnell also chipped in with 273 runs, including three half centuries, at an average of 39.00 in the Specsavers County Championship in addition to picking up 18 wickets.

A host of top quality players will be participating in the tournament which runs from October 5 to 23.

There will be five franchises with each of them allowed five overseas players and all matches taking place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Parnell’s team-mates will include Rashid Khan, Luke Ronchi, Colin Ingram, Sohail Tanvir and Laurie Evans who played against the Rapids for Sussex in the Blast final at Edgbaston.

Ex Worcestershire players also taking part are Andre Russell, Colin Munro and Mitchell McClenaghan.
