Wayne Parnell says “keeping things very simple” has been a key factor during Worcestershire’s successful start to the season.
The County won their opening game against Leicestershire in the Specsavers County Championship and four of their six group matches to date in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
The Rapids will today (Saturday) aim to continue the form shown in Wednesday’s win over Notts Outlaws when they entertain Yorkshire Vikings and then visit Derbyshire Falcons on Monday.
Parnell said|: “The next two games are obviously going to be crucial for us to try and finish in a good position to go into the play-offs.
“We’ve now got to re-set again versus Yorkshire and just take it as it comes on Saturday.
“I think it is just about doing the basics. That is a thing we’ve stressed all season and also to the guys in pre-season as well.
“It’s about keeping things very simple.”
Parnell says having several bowlers to choose from who can all come into the side and do an effective job is also important.
He said: “We’ve got a nice group of bowlers. Tonguey (Josh Tongue) missed out against Notts and Browny (Pat Brown) came in and did very well.
“That’s a strength. We have guys that aren’t playing who can come in and be just as effective as the guys who miss out.
“Charlie (Morris) has been really good for us with the new ball. In 50 over cricket especially, or any white ball format, taking wickets in the powerplay is very crucial.
“Both Charlie and Tonguey, and now Browny, have done that in the first 10 overs which helps us a lot.”
