Pennington Part Of Academy Side For Second Clash With Ireland Under-17S

Worcestershire Academy will be aiming to complete a quickfire double over Ireland Under-17s when the two sides meet for the second time in 24 hours in another 50 over match at Stourbridge CCC today (11am start).

A fine undefeated 131 from Jack Haynes helped the Academy chase down a 259 target with seven balls to spare at the same venue yesterday.

But Haynes is not playing today as Academy coach Elliot Wilson makes five changes to the side as other members of the Academy and elite development group are given an opportunity.

They include paceman Dillon Pennington who recently joined the Academy and will be part of the new intake for the 2016-2017 campaign.

He has been part of Worcestershire's satellite academy at Shrewsbury – his home town – for the past two years, working under the expert eye of former Worcestershire paceman Paul Pridgeon.

Zain Hassan, Billy Cox, Adam Finch and Matt Davis also come into the side with Jack and Josh Haynes, skipper George Newton, Charlie Page-Morris and Dan Lloyd making way.

Nick Hammond, who scored 73 in a match-winning partnership of 150 with Jack Haynes yesterday,  will captain the side.

After today's game, the Academy and Ireland Under-17s will feature in three T20 games at Bromsgrove CC – two on Thursday and one on Friday.
