PROUD DAY FOR ADAM WHO IS HANDED WORCESTERSHIRE DEBUT

it was a proud day for worcestershire paceman adam finch who today was handed his senior debut by the county.

the 19-year-old received his cap from worcestershire academy coach, elliot wilson, before the start of play in the specsavers county championship match with lancashire at New Road.

finch was part of the squad for the previous two championship games with lancashire (away) and middlesex (home).

but the england under-19 player got the nod from first team coach alex gidman and replaced josh tongue who has a forearm injury.

wordsley born finch has produced some impressive performances for the seconds this season including 4-28 in the championship game with lancashire at northern cc last month.

he made a late introduction to cricket but has made massive strides forward during the past couple of years.

finch is the 518th player to receive his worcestershire colours and follows in the footsteps of riki wessels (515), josh dell (516) and callum ferguson (517) earlier this season.
