Question And Answer Session With Alex Hepburn Part Two

Question And Answer Session With Alex Hepburn Part Two

Alex Hepburn has revealed his goals for 2016 as he looks to build on a successful campaign last summer with Worcestershire Seconds.

Hepburn scored four centuries for the Seconds as well as making some telling contributions with the ball.

He has also enjoyed some impressive form during the winter with Willetton Dragons.

Hepburn will soon be returning to New Road to prepare for the new season.

Here we catch up with Alex in part two of a question and answer session with the Worcestershire website.

Question: Do you see yourself developing as a genuine all-rounder first team-wise or a batsman who bowls or a bowler who bats?

Alex Hepburn: "I would love to see myself as a genuine all rounder who bats middle order and bowls second change.

"It's great being able to bat and bowl as you are always in the game."

Question: What are your targets for 2016? How important is it to make an impression on the pre-season trip to Abu Dhabi?

Alex Hepburn: "My main individual goals for 2016 are to strive to be in the frame for the first one day game and hold my spot as well as to perform consistently with both the bat and ball in the Seconds.

"If I can keep performing at that level opportunities will come along.

"It's always important to impress no matter where you are playing cricket as you never know who is around and weight of runs-wickets never hurts anybody."

Question: Who has been the biggest help to you at Worcs down the years past and present?

Alex Hepburn: "All the boys have been really crucial in helping me mature as a cricketer.

"Being the new young kid from Australia was hard at first but didn't take long for the boys to welcome me straight into the squad.

"Big Dol (Damian D'Oliveira) in my first summer was brilliant in welcoming me and settling me into the system.

"I worked hard with Kev (second eleven and batting coach Kevin Sharp) over the summer just gone on technical aspects with the bat and have no doubt that helped me in performing well in the Seconds."

Question: Who are-were your sporting heroes growing up and did anyone in particular inspire you when it comes to cricket?

Alex Hepburn: "My main two sporting heroes when growing up, coming from Australia, were Justin Langer and Michael Hussey as passionate and hard working players.

"My dad bought me my first cricket bat for Christmas one year and I didn't put it down! So I suppose he is a main reason to why I took a liking to cricket."
