Worcestershire Rapids made history as they overcame Nottinghamshire Outlaws by 20 runs in the Natwest T20 Blast clash with Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge.
It was the first time that the county have won four successive away matches in the T20 competition after the triumphs over Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Durham Jets and Lancashire Lightning.
Victory also kept the Rapids on course to reach a third quarter-final in four years and they remain in second spot after their sixth win in nine games.
The Rapids are two points clear of third placed Lancashire and Sunday's opponents Durham – and they have a game in hand.
The success was also the perfect tonic after the LV = County Championship setback on the same ground yesterday.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore's career best 75 was the backbone of the Rapids 173 all out and then an all-round excellent bowling and superb fielding display restricted the Outlaws to 153-9.
Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell elected to bat on winning the toss and collected the first runs of the innings via a cut for four off spinner Samit Patel.
But it was the only scoring shot before Mitchell was dismissed to the fifth ball of the opening over when adjudged lbw.
Kohler-Cadmore got off the mark with a four over cover at Harry Gurney's expense and then chopped Jake Ball away past point to the boundary.
He greeted Dan Christian with six over long off and a similar shot against Ball brought up the 50 in the sixth over.
Richard Oliver, recalled in place of England's Moeen Ali, got in on the big hitting act with a six off Ball over mid-wicket as the Rapids reached 60-1 at the end of the powerplay.
Kohler-Cadmore went to his 50 with his third six – off Patel – from just 26 balls. It contained three sixes and six fours.
The Kohler-Cadmore-Oliver stand was worth 86 in nine overs when the latter on 31 was bowled by Steven Mullaney.
Kohler-Cadmore continued to blaze away and had reached 75 when he went for another big hit off Christian and this time Patel at long on held onto a low catch.
The Rapids were then 117-3 in the 13th over before wicket fell steadily in the closing stages of the innings.
Brett D'Oliveira (9) perished to a fine running catch back to long on by Greg Smith off Mullaney and Colin Munro (16) was run out by Alex Hales throw from the cover boundary after an initial misfield.
The last five wickets went down for 10 runs in the space of 11 balls.
Ross Whiteley (14) drilled a Harry Gurney delivery straight to Sam Wood on the mid wicket boundary and then Joe Leach (4) and Ed Barnard (0) were bowled off successive balls from Jake Ball.
The final two wickets went down in the 20th over as Ben Cox (11) and Jack Shantry (4) departed to the Hales-Gurney combination as the Rapids were dismissed for 173 with three balls remaining.
When the Outlaws began their reply, Shantry bowled two tight opening overs but Hales collected two fours and a six from Joe Leach's opening over.
Barnard made the first breakthrough with his first delivery by bowling Michael Lumb for eight after he attempted a cut shot.
Hales on 22 survived a run out scare after chopping a Shantry delivery to D'Oliveira at backward point with the visitors convinced he had failed to make his ground.
The England one-day player hit Barnard for successive sixes over mid-wicket in an over costing 17 runs.
Mitchell brought himself into the attack and in his second over he accounted for Hales (47) who holed out to Kohler-Cadmore at long on with the total 78-2.
Then in the next over Riki Wessels (24) went for a slog sweep and was bowled by D'Oliveira.
Mitchell bowled an excellent spell of 1-18 from his four overs and the Outlaws needed 73 from the final six overs.
Then Ajmal struck with successive balls to reduce the Outlaws to 115-5.
First Patel (9) was caught by Whiteley on the mid wicket boundary and then Christian (26) gave the spinner the charge and was bowled.
It became 124-6 when Mullaney went for the ramp shot against Leach and was bowled for six.
Leach struck again in the penultimate over as Sam Wood (9) could only lob a catch up to Mitchell at mid off and Chris Read (0) perished to an excellent catch by Barnard at third man.
With Shantry getting rid of Wood for 20 in the final over, the Rapids finished comfortable winners after an excellent performance.
