Rapids Name Unchanged Squad For Trip To Old Trafford

Worcestershire Rapids have named an unchanged squad for their penultimate NatWest T20 Blast encounter with Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford tomorrow evening (Wednesday).

Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes has named the 11 players who came close to completing a double over North Group leaders Notts Outlaws on Sunday – plus paceman Pat Brown.

Brown, George Scrimshaw and Josh Tongue have been rotated in recent games as the young pace trio have gained invaluable experience of the short format of the game that will stand them in good stead for the future.

The Rapids may not be able to qualify for the knockout stages but Rhodes says they will still be striving to end the 2017 T20 Blast campaign on a winning note.

Rhodes said: “We’ve got a couple of games left and we want to get maximum points in those two games and that’s the way we want to play.

“You play your games to win and we are representing Worcestershire and we want to win those last two games.”

The two sides will be hoping for better fortunes with the weather than at New Road when the game was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The Rapids then wrap up their T20 Blast campaign two days later against Derbyshire Falcons at the 3aaa County Ground (Friday).
