Rapids To Take Part In First Vitality Blast Semi-Final At Edgbaston

The running order for Vitality Blast finals day has been finalised – and Worcestershire Rapids will be first to take centre stage.

The Edgbaston showpiece will get underway at 11am on Saturday, September 15 with the Rapids – conquerors of Gloucestershire on Saturday – doing battle with Lancashire Lightning in the first semi-final.

The two teams are the nearest placed geographically to Birmingham.

This will allow more time for the supporters of the teams in the second semi-final – Sussex Sharks and Somerset – to make their respective journeys from the South and South West for the 2.30pm start.

Then the victors of the Rapids-Lightning and Sharks-Somerset clashes will fight it out under lights in the final at 6.45pm.

The line-up for finals day was confirmed yesterday when Somerset defeated Notts Outlaws at Taunton following Sunday’s wash-out.

The Lightning overcame Kent Spitfires in the first quarter-final and the Sharks came through against Durham Jets on Friday evening.

The two group winners in the Rapids and Somerset and the two third placed teams in the Lightning and the Sharks ultimately qualified for one of cricket’s biggest showpiece events.
