Rapids Top Blast North Group With 100 Per Cent Record

Worcestershire Rapids are top of the North Group in the Vitality Blast – after bouncing back in superb fashion in all cricket after the Royal London One-Day Cup semi-final setback against Kent three weeks ago.

Since that narrow defeat in the final over, Worcestershire have defeated Lancashire and earned a fighting draw with Nottinghamshire in the Specsavers County Championship to close the gap in the scrap to cement a Division One spot.

They have carried on their superb white ball form in the Blast with a trio of victories against Lancashire Lightning, Birmingham Bears and Derbyshire Falcons.

It means they are the only side in the North Group who still have a 100 per cent record after continuing the form shown in the group stages of the One-Day Cup.

Next up for the Rapids is a home Blast double header in the space of three days.

They face Northamptonshire Steelbacks (5.30 pm Friday) and then play host to Yorkshire Vikings (1pm Sunday).

The Vikings game has been brought forward because of football’s World Cup final kicking off at 4pm on the same day.
