Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes: “I’ve been involved in some crazy days of cricket over my career and this was certainly one of them.
"To win in such a convincing way was amazing really. The bowling and fielding was outstanding and I’m very proud of the boys.
“We were ready to chase 250, but it would have been very difficult, and you have to give some much credit to Matt Henry and Joe Leach, and they were backed up by some great fielding and catching.
“Things went our way today, and I’m pleased for the lads because they’ve worked so hard in their previous games. We did it the hard way too, coming from behind to get the result.
"Joe Leach is a natural wicket-taker, he sometimes goes for a few, but from 0-82 he barely conceded a run.
“I’m surprised Leicestershire didn’t attack us a little bit more, they sort of dug themselves into a hole in their second innings.
"We were always going to be very aggressive when we batted, and that approach paid off.”
Worcestershire all-rounder Joe Leach: “To win like that, the wrong way round – because we made the wrong decision regarding putting them in – is very satisfying.
“I know I was 0-82 after the first day, but I didn’t feel I had actually bowled that badly. A couple of chances went down, a couple of decisions weren’t given.
"But that’s cricket: you wake up on day two and everything went for me and it snowballed from there.
“The batters did brilliantly to get us up to 274 in our first innings. That was key, because the pitch was deteriorating. That kept us in the game.
“We’ve played some really good cricket this season, and our points total before this game didn’t really reflect that. I think there are really good signs going forward.
“We don’t know what they were thinking when they came out to bat second time. The pitch certainly did deteriorate, but from a bowler’s point of view it was refreshing to play on a pitch which did a bit.
"We’ve played on some pretty flat things up to now. It certainly wasn’t a 43 all out pitch. We’d have been looking for a target of about 200 in the second innings. That would probably have been about par, and they’ll certainly be disappointed.”
Leicestershire captain Mark Cosgrove: “From 250-4 at the end of the first day we lost track of that game very quickly, and we need to go away and think about the way we played today.
"It was not acceptable. The pitch was pretty good, to be fair. If you look at the wickets which fell, not many were directly down to the pitch. We can’t blame anyone but ourselves.
“There was definitely a bit of panic. We weren’t on our game, and we played the sort of cricket we don’t want to play and haven’t played all season.
“It’s not the end of the world, we’re still sitting okay, but we have to bounce back from this straight away. No-one was up to the task, no-one put the team first, including myself, and it bit us in the backside.
"It’s a busy few weeks coming up, and it’s not the way we wanted to start them, but we still feel we’re going in the right direction.”
