Reversed Fortunes For Ed And Alex Down Under

Reversed Fortunes For Ed And Alex Down Under

Worcestershire duo Ed Barnard and Alex Hepburn's fortunes were reversed when in action today for Scarborough and Willetton Dragons respectively in the Western Australia Cricket Association first grade competition.

Barnard helped Scarborough bounce back from yesterday's defeat by Subiaco Floreat as they travelled to University and won by 160 runs.

But Hepburn was on the losing side with Willetton – an eight wicket defeat by home side Melville – in contrast to yesterday's triumph over Mount Lawley.

Scarborough opted to bat first and amassed 313-9 in 50 overs thanks largely to W. Robinson (103) and L. Knight (114) who put on 180 for the third wicket.

Barnard came in at number five at 227-3 and scored a quickfire nine off five deliveries.

He then shared the new ball and made the first breakthrough in the University reply in trapping N. Maiolo (2) lbw.

Barnard had figures of 6-0-30-1 as University were bowled out for 153 in 39.3 overs.

Willetton opted to bat on winning the toss but were bowled out for 122 in 47.5 overs with Hepburn, who batted at number four, scoring 13 off 45 balls with one boundary.

Melville made light work of their target, reaching 126-2 in 23.3 overs. Both wickets fell to former Australian spinner Bradd Hogg.

Hepburn bowled two overs for eight runs.
