Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes says Worcestershire are on a learning curve and how they bounce back from defeats in Division One of the LV = County Championship is "crucial" after the 10 wicket reversal against Yorkshire at New Road.
Worcestershire competed strongly with the champions on the opening two days before being dismissed for 100 in their second innings in just 35.3 overs.
Rhodes said: "It is disappointing to lose but it is not a sprint this, it's a marathon and we will learn a lot from that.
"There are some other teams who have got decent attacks and the great thing for all our players is it is a learning curve and a real good challenge.
"It sets the benchmark for what we want to try and achieve in this division.
"But also we are aware of how tough it is going to be as well and we are going to have to ride through those sessions and fight through them.
"We are going to lose games in this division, we know that. How we bounce back is crucial.
"We've got a tough game coming up at Sussex, they are all tough, and it will be one to look forward to, because it will be totally new challenges again.
"This is a young and learning side and today particularly, the first session, we will learn a lot from that, not just our batters but our bowlers as well, because it was very impressive fast bowling.
"The bowling unit did do well but it can be better and I think they will be better. They didn't necessarily bowl badly but at this standard of cricket, if you are slightly out with line and length, you will get punished.
"That was the one thing the likes of Brooks, Bresnan and Patterson did particularly well. They didn't feed us any juicy four balls and we've got to make sure that we also get to that sort of level.
"Similarly with the batting, we've got to find ways of getting through those tricky sessions when people bowl well.
"For the first two days we went really well with them. We know we've got to keep going for four days . We did that a lot to opposition sides last year after it had been even.
"We'd get a bit of a chink and then ram it home. That's what they did to us."
