Rhodes Contributes With Bat And Ball In Winning Debut For Onslow

George Rhodes made a winning start to his spell with New Zealand side Onslow CC and made useful contributions with bat and ball.

The Worcestershire all-rounder is playing for a club based in Khandallah whose previous players include New Zealand international trio of Jeremy Coney, John Morrison and Gavin Larsen.

Rhodes batted at number four and made 33 off 39 balls as Onslow totalled 262-9 in their Ewen Chatfield Trophy 50 over clash with Wellington Collegiates.

He came in at 155-2 in the 30th over and was sixth out at 214 in the 43rd over.

Rhodes then returned 2-24 from 6.1 overs as Wellington were bowled out for 146 in 35.1 overs.

Victory made it three wins out of three for Onslow and maintained their 100 per cent record in the competition.

Last winter Rhodes played for Tea Tree Gully in Australia.

Charlie Morris picked up two wickets but his side, Tuggeranong Valley, suffered their first defeat of the season in the McDonald’s ACT Premier Cricket first grade match with Weston Creek Molonglo.

Tuggeranong were bowled out for 131 in 43.4 overs with Morris making six batting at number 10.

The County paceman removed both Weston openers and finished with 2-32 from eight overs.

Weston achieved a seven wicket win with 26.2 overs to spare.

Josh Dell made 26 for Midland-Guildford in the second innings of a Western Australia Cricket Association first grade match with Willetton (final match details to follow).

In the same competition, Ollie Westbury scored three on his debut for Scarborough against Wanneroo (final match details to follow).
