Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes was delighted that batsman and bowlers were able to get in valuable practice in The Parks and also achieve victory over Oxford MCCU with the new season just one week away.
Joe Clarke, Daryl Mitchell and Brett D'Oliveira all scored centuries while the other two members of the top five, Alexei Kervezee and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, scored fifties in the second innings.
All the bowlers were also able to get considerables numbers of overs under their belt and pick up wickets as the County triumphed by 482 runs on the third and final day.
Rhodes said: "We missed out on any cricket at Taunton because of the weather so we were desperate to get plenty of practice in.
"We achieved exactly that with time at the crease for the batters and overs under the belt for the bowlers.
"But on the flipside of it is you want to be greedy and try and win the game as well so thankfully for us, we returned home with both of those things achieved.
"We are delighted particularly that our batters have had some time at the crease and got some runs which will help their confidence going into that first game (against Kent on April 10 at New Road)."
D'Oliveira experienced the joy of scoring his maiden first class century as he continued the promise shown when opening alongside skipper Daryl Mitchell during the final four County Championship matches of last season.
Rhodes was also pleased with the promise shown by young paceman and Academy product Josh Tongue on his first class debut.
He said: "Dolly played well with Mitch, a tremendous partnership, and it looks and hopefully they can forge a good partnership going forward in the early part of the season.
"Added to that Josh Tongue made his debut and really impressed with the way that he bowled.
"He has some nice control but also some good aggression and he is a good, fine prospect for the future.
"It is not a Championship game but what was exciting is he had good control and didn't look out of place at all."
