Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes was left frustrated by the weather but with plenty of positives to take from the play possible in Worcestershire's rain-ruined LV = County Championship match with Kent at Tunbridge Wells.
Worcestershire finished on 67-0 in reply to Kent's 258 after no play was possible on the final day before the match was abandoned in mid afternoon as a draw.
Worcestershire take eight points to close the gap to four points on Division Two leaders Hampshire, who were not in action during this round of matches, but the elements denied them the possibility of far greater rewards.
It means all three of the county's away Championship games have been severely affected by the weather when they were in the driving seat.
Rhodes said: "It is incredibly frustrating. I'm just sad that we were all over Kent and we've come away with eight points and they've come away with seven.
"We take so much out of that first day because that wicket was as flat as anything. We lost the toss and started so well, making a couple of decent openers (Daniel Bell-Drummond and Robert Key) play a hell of a lot.
"We didn't give them anything to hit. We got the reward when we got a couple of wickets and we carried on working hard.
"We saved 55 runs in one innings in the field which is an amazing effort.
"The way we set about chasing their score down, and obviously wanting to get a lead against them, was outstanding by Daryl Mitchell and Matt Pardoe.
"There are lots of positives and it's such a shame in a fixture like this we've really only played a day and a bit.
"You can only control what you can control. We will refocus now for Friday and the T20 and then for the Championship game at the Oval on Sunday.
"In this county season, the games come thick and fast and to us it is just a case of 'what's the next one, let's prepare'"
Worcestershire will entertain Northamptonshire Steelbacks in their opening home T20 game on Friday.
Rhodes said: "We will stick to the original plan to give the lads a day off on Thursday because I believe we've got a formula which can give them some rest and then get them in early on Friday.
"We will do some skill work early on the Friday and then give them chance to go home and relax and then come back for a late sort of preparation for the T20 game at 5.30."
There was also no play on the second day of Worcestershire's Second Eleven Championship match with Nottinghamshire at the Royal Grammar School, Worcester.
