Rhodes Hopeful Moeen Will Be Available For Finale Of County Season

Rhodes Hopeful Moeen Will Be Available For Finale Of County Season

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes is hopeful of having all-rounder Moeen Ali available after his England commitments for the finale of the LV = County Championship season.

Rhodes believes Moeen could be available for the home clash with Surrey starting on September 9 and the away encounter with Essex starting on September 23 subject to England making the all-rounder available.

His availability would be a big boost to the county as they look to clinch promotion back to Division One.

Moeen is waiting to see if he will be selected for the five match Royal London One-Day Series and the NatWest T20 international with India.

The One-Day series ends on September 5 with the T20 international played two days later.

When asked about Moeen's availability, Rhodes said: "My reckoning, if he plays in the one-dayers, is that he could be available for the home game against Surrey and also the last game at Essex.

"That will be a big boost for us but that will be if Moeen gets picked in the one-dayers and that's also if England let him go – which I've got no reason to think they won't.

"I think they will because they've not got a lot of cricket until the winter tours get underway in November.

"There is every reason to think he will be available for those last two games."
