Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes says he can see no reason why Moeen Ali should not be allowed by England to play in the county's final two LV= County Championship matches of the season.
Rhodes said he still doesn't know if the all-rounder will be given permission to end the season with the county for the home game with Surrey and the away clash with Essex at Chelmsford.
England complete their summer programme with a T20 encounter with India at Edgbaston on Sunday – two days before the Surrey game gets underway.
When asked what the situation is regarding Moeen's availability, Rhodes said: "We don't know yet but I just can't see any reason why they (England) would not want him to play.
"He's our player, he is not centrally contracted and he will have have the T20 game and then he could have a day practicing with us and then straight into the side to play Surrey.
"He is desperate to play, I know he wants to play.
"I can't imagine they are going to want him to rest when the next international game is in November."
Moeen's last appearance for Worcestershire was in the Championship clash with Glamorgan at New Road at the end of June.
They were denied permission to play him in the NatWest T20 Blast quarter-final with Surrey at The Oval.
