Rhodes Not Carried Away By County’s Flying Start To The Season

Rhodes Not Carried Away By County’s Flying Start To The Season

Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes has been encouraged by Worcestershire's start to the season but will not get carried away as the county prepare for Sunday's LV = County Championship clash with Glamorgan at the Swalec Stadium.

Rhodes is hoping the hard work put in by everyone on the staff is starting to pay dividends with Worcestershire top of Division Two with two wins and 56 points from the first three games.

But the emphasis from the former England wicket-keeper will continue to be focusing on one session and one game at a time.

Rhodes said: "That (not getting carried away) will be part of the full debrief we have on Friday in preparation for the game on Sunday.

"We tend to debrief a couple of days after games and during the meeting that is preparation for the game that is Glamorgan.

"The good thing about debriefing then is we move quickly onto preparing for another crucial game at Glamorgan and the players and I know you've got to take the games one at a time.

"You break that down even more to each session."

Rhodes added: "We've had some tough times over the years but we've had a very good start to the season and hopefully some of the hard work is showing and some of the players we've had for a little while, and some of the new players, are blossoming now.

"It just goes to show with a little bit of patience, things hopefully come through."
