Steve Rhodes believes opposing batsmen "hate" facing Worcestershire paceman Jack Shantry who reached the 40 wicket mark for the campaign during the LV County Championship success over Gloucestershire at Cheltenham yesterday.
Shantry returned 4-52 in the second innings to add to his two wickets during the first innings as Worcestershire achieved an eight wicket win with more than a day to spare.
He has also made several useful contributions with the bat generally from the number nine position.
Director of Cricket Rhodes said: "I think people hate facing Jack and that's credit to him and the qualities that he has got.
"He bowls a ball on a sixpence and his strange action and different angles that he uses are very effective.
"He has learnt to be very effective and 40 wickets is testament to someone who has worked hard as well."
Rhodes will give the players today off ahead of Friday's home NatWest T20 Blast clash with Derbyshire Falcons and the start of the Royal London One Day Cup campaign against Essex Eagles at New Road on Sunday.
Rhodes said: "You can't hammer them for another day after they have done two days in the field at Cheltenham and they deserve the day off.
"We will attack the game on Friday and come in and hopefully have a good game which we really need and then probably have Saturday off as well even though we've got the 50 over competition coming thick and fast on Sunday and Tuesday.
"We won't have had a lot of time to prepare for 50 over cricket but we know how we want to play and hopefully that's enough.
"But with the nature of the schedule these days in county cricket, sometimes you have to go into games without the best of preparations and that might be one of them."
