Rhodes Says New Ceo Has “passion And Desire” Which Is Crucial Worcs Trademark

Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes says new Worcestershire interim CEO Tom Scott has the "passion and desire" for the club which has always been a crucial factor in it "punching above its weight."

Rhodes has already met with Scott since arriving back from his winter spell as part of the England Lions coaching set-up.

He was well acquainted with the 56-year-old from his three year spell as the County's main sponsor via the Cotswold Group.

Scott has been appointed on an interim basis for a six month period after David Leatherdale announced he was leaving New Road to take up a CEO role with the Professional Cricketers' Association.

He has followed Worcestershire since his school days, growing up in the era of Glenn Turner, Vanburn Holder and Basil D'Oliveira.

Rhodes said: "I know Tom through his time with us as a sponsor here and I had a chat with him on Monday afternoon, the first day I was back in.

"I had a good hour with him and what is right about Tom is he is very passionate, as David was, about the club.

"He has been a supporter for many years, he has been a major sponsor, he was brought up in the city and was schooled in the city.

"There are many reasons to understand the love of the club which is the most important thing. It is also with people like Tom Scott.

"That is how we tend to punch above our weight at Worcester via that passion and desire for the club and the area.

"Tom will certainly carry that on in the next six months or so."
