Steve Rhodes insists there is still plenty to play for in the final LV = County Championship match against Middlesex at New Road tomorrow with Worcestershire "wanting to end the season on a high."
Although Worcestershire may be returning to Division Two, Rhodes is anticipating his players performing with a lot of pride in the climax to the 2015 campaign.
Worcestershire's Director of Cricket said: "The lads will be wanting to get as high as they can in the division and I'm optimistic that the sides we're involved with at Worcester, we don't throw the towel in at anytime.
"We keep trying all the time.The game at Durham was a great example where we've come off second best but at seven down in a 290 chase, it was a good game of cricket that could have gone either way.
"Hopefully in the next match as well, we will play with a lot of pride and try our best to get another victory."
Rhodes added: "The one thing is we won't go through the motions, it's a first class match and we want all our players to gain a little bit more experience.
"We want to end the season on a high."
Middlesex are battling to claim runners-up spot in Division One ahead of Nottinghamshire and their batting coach is former Worcestershire coach David Houghton.
Heavy overnight and morning rain meant there was no play before lunch and the umpires were set to inspect again at 13.10.
But there was time for the toss to be made and Middlesex were put into bat by Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell.
The home side kept faith with the side which played against Durham.
