Ross Confirmed As Joint Top Of T20 Blast Six-Hitters For 2015

Ross Whiteley can look back with immense satisfaction on his performances in the NatWest T20 Blast during 2015 after being confirmed as the joint leading six-hitter in the competition.

The Worcestershire Rapids all-rounder finished level on 29 sixes with West Indies star Chris Gayle (Somerset) and Sussex's Luke Wright who last week hit a double century in the LV = County Championship clash at New Road.

England ODI player David Willey could have overhauled the trio had he enjoyed a repeat of the ferocious hitting for Northants Steelbacks that brought him a rapid century in the quarter-final win over Sussex at Hove.

But Willey managed only one more six in the two matches on T20 finals day – in the final against Lancashire Lightning – and finished on 21 for the campaign.

Whiteley, who last month signed a new four year contract at New Road, hit 11 of his sixes when making 91 not out off 35 balls against Yorkshire Vikings at Headingley.

The revised list of top 10 six hitters in the T20 Blast this summer are:

Chris Gayle (Somerset) 29 in three matches, strike rate 192.94

ROSS WHITELEY (Worcs) 29 in 14 matches, strike rate 177.96

Luke Wright (Sussex) 29 in 14 matches, strike rate 171.95

David Willey (Northants) 21 in 10 matches, strike rate 190.90

Michael Klinger (Gloucs) 21 in 12 matches, strike rate 142.17

Riki Wessels (Notts) 21 in 13 matches, strike rate 150.34

Colin Ingram (Glam) 19 in 14 matches, strike rate 149.80

Brendon McCullum (Bham) 17 in seven matches, strike rate 191.48

Paul Stirling (Middx) 17 in eight matches, strike rate 175.00

Ian Cockbain (Gloucs) 17 in 13 matches, strike rate 149.61.
