Spin wizard Saeed Ajmal is being backed to "make a comeback" by the head coach of Pakistan's national cricket academy Mohammad Akram.
Ajmal, who picked up 63 LV = County Championship wickets for Worcestershire last season, is continuing to work on remodelling his action after withdrawing from his country's World Cup squad.
He is being assisted by former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq and national academy coaches in Lahore as he looks to eventually gain ICC approval for his new action via a biomechanics test at one of their approved centres.
Ajmal has been banned from international cricket since his action was reported during the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Test in Galle in August.
Ex Pakistan paceman Akram said: "Saeed is a fighter and I can tell you his career is not over as yet.
"There is lot of cricket after the World Cup and I am confident he will make a comeback.
"Saeed is working very hard on his action.
"But at this time, what is more important is not whether and when Saeed clears the bowling action test but how effective he can be with his modified action."
Ajmal played in two unofficial matches for Pakistan 'A' against Kenya but was withdrawn from an unofficial ICC Test in Chennai.
He has previously undergone two unofficial tests at Loughborough where he held talks with Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes.
Rhodes has indicated he wants to resign Ajmal for the 2015 campaign if his new action earns ICC approval.
