Three years ago Worcestershire Women’s Rapids spinner Sarah Glenn was part of the full-house crowd at Lord’s when England Women won the ICC Women’s World Cup.
It was a memorable day for Glenn who witnessed England’s triumph over India Women with her family and friends.
Now she has gone from cheering on her idols to playing alongside some of those same players as part of the England squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup which gets underway in Australia this weekend.
Glenn is a talented all-round sports person and played hockey for her country at junior level – she still turns out for Belper – and watched England win the 2016 World Cup in Brazil.
But she opted to focus on cricket and is now gearing up for England’s opening T20 World Cup match against South Africa Women at Perth on Sunday.
It has been a spectacular breakthrough at international level for Glenn who earned her first call up before Christmas for the series against Pakistan in Malaysia.
She has taken 17 wickets in nine ODI and T20I internationals and also bowled economically.
After Sunday’s opener, Glenn and England take on Thailand Women (February 26) and Pakistan Women (February 28) – both matches at Canberra – and then West Indies Women on March 1 at Sydney in the bid to reach the knockout stages.
