Scrimshaw And Dolly Shine As Seconds Share Spoils In T20

Scrimshaw And Dolly Shine As Seconds Share Spoils In T20

Worcestershire Seconds finished with honours even from their two T20 matches with Yorkshire Seconds at RGS Worcester.

An outstanding bowling performance from Worcestershire paceman George Scrimshaw was the highlight of Game One even though Yorkshire recovered to win by eight runs.

And in Game Two Brett D'Oliveira hit an unbeaten 49 in a rare outing for the Seconds – along with Ed Barnard – as Worcestershire won by four wickets.

Scrimshaw was in deadly form as Yorkshire, who were put in, were reduced to 27-8 at one stage.

He finished with the superb figures of 4-1-12-5 and there were also two wickets for Dillon Pennington.

But James Wainman – with 45 off 22 balls – and Karl Carver led a recovery with a ninth wicket stand of 62 in five overs.

Carver, who was struck for six sixes in an over by Ross Whiteley in Sunday's NatWest T20 Blast match, then added a further 48 with Jack Shutt and ended on 41 not out from 30 balls as Yorkshire totalled 137-9.

In reply, opener Alex Hepburn scored 39 off 33 deliveries and there were useful contributions from Tom Fell – 26 off 24 – and Ollie Westbury – 20 off 21.

But Jack Brooks (4-0-15-1) and Jordan Thompson (3-0-18-3) helped to restrict the home side to 129-9.

In Game Two, Yorkshire opted to bat and Will Rhodes (48 off 41 balls) added 53 with Alex Lees (33) and a further 52 with Matthew Waite (28).

Yorkshire totalled 145-7 with three wickets falling in the final over from Barnard – one of them a run-out – while skipper Ben Twohig returned 2-16 from his three overs.

Hepburn made another positive contribution going in first with 31 off 16 deliveries with six boundaries.

Then D'Oliveira came in at number five and guided the Seconds home with an unbeaten 49 off 44 balls with two sixes and two fours.

He added 41 for the sixth wicket with Zen Malik (20) and Twohig remained 15 not out as victory was secured with four balls to spare.
