Worcestershire Seconds bowled out Leicestershire Seconds for 318 on a see-saw opening day of the Championship match at RGS Worcester.
Leicestershire were at various stages 2-2, 123-3 and 186-6 before reaching their final tally after being put into bat by skipper Alex Hepburn.
Spinner Ben Twohig continued his recent good form with three more wickets.
Pat Brown struck with the third ball of the day as Harry Dearden was caught by Twohig at slip without troubling the scorers.
Then Sam Evans also departed for a duck when bowled by a good delivery from Charlie Morris with only two runs on the board.
Aadil Ali and Mike Jones retrieved the situation for Leicestershire with a partnership of 121 in 36 overs.
It was Morris who broke the stand as Jones was trapped lbw for 45.
Twohig then came into his own with the ball after recovering well from some early hitting by the Leicestershire batsmen.
He had Mosun Hussain caught in the gulley by Championship debutant Jack Haynes who had recovered from the wrist injury suffered in the warm-up between the two counties in an Academy T20 fixture on Sunday.
Irfan Amjad fell to substitute Mahaaz Ahmed at deep mid off, a good head high catch, and Ali on 99 tried to cut the spinner and Haynes picked up a second gulley catch.
He struck 12 fours in his 157 ball knock.
Leicestershire were then 186-6 when Harry Swindells and Ben Mike joined forces for their side's second substantial partnership of the day.
They added 98 in 30 overs although Mike, who had guested for the Worcestershire Academy on Sunday when Haynes was injured, was dropped on 36 at deep mid wicket.
The stand was finally broken when Mike, having made 45 from 110 balls, was caught by Adam Wiffen at deep square leg off Adam Finch on the day he was included in the England Under-19 squad for the forthcoming series versus India Under-19s.
Zain Ul-Hassan and Hepburn polished off the innings including Swindells who was caught behind off the skipper for 60 from 144 balls with three boundaries.
Twohig ended with 3-95 from 27 overs and Finch bowled very economically and finished with 1-38 from 19 overs.
