Worcestershire Seconds are right in the hunt for a place in the knockout stages of the Second Eleven Trophy as the group stages approach their climax.

The Seconds are currently lying in fifth spot in the nine-team North Group table with two matches to play.

They take on Derbyshire at Blackfinch New Road today (Monday) and Northamptonshire at Finedon CC on June 10.

The Seconds will be looking to emulate last year’s achievement of qualifying for the semi-finals for the first time since 2004 after finishing as North Group runners-up before losing to Middlesex.

They have so far defeated Leicestershire and Yorkshire and been beaten by Warwickshire and Lancashire.

Alex Milton will skipper the side which includes all-rounder Brett D’Oliveira and paceman Pat Brown who returns after being unavailable for the Championship match against Yorkshire at Kidderminster because of exam commitments.
