Seconds Lying In Second Spot In Championship

Seconds Lying In Second Spot In Championship

Worcestershire Seconds will go into their final Championship match of 2017 lying in joint second spot with Yorkshire in the North Group.

They moved level with the Tykes courtesy of picking up 12 points to their 10 in the drawn match between the counties at RGS Worcester this week.

Lancashire – who finished runners-up in the group to Durham last season – are the current leaders.

But the battle may have been tighter at the top had Worcestershire not suffered a complete wash-out of their match with Durham at Burnopfield.

Coach Kevin Sharp's side finished joint third last season and their success in red ball cricket has continued during the current campaign.

Worcestershire wrap up their Championship programme for this year against Nottinghamshire at the Notts Sports Ground starting on Monday.

Worcestershire have already equalled the 2016 tally of three wins.

They have the second highest number of bowling bonus points with 24 from eight games – a tally only surpassed by Leicestershire.
