Seconds Rewrite Record Books As Kohler-Cadmore And Westbury Hit Tons

Worcestershire Seconds rewrote the record books as centuries from Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Ollie Westbury helped them to a 28 run Trophy success over Derbyshire Seconds at Kidderminster.

The Seconds maintained their 100 per cent record in the competition this season after amassing 383-6 in their 50 overs after being put into bat.

It was their highest ever Trophy score on home soil, surpassing the total of 378-6 against MCC Young Cricketers at Bromsgrove in 2014.

The Seconds had only surpassed today's total once in the Trophy when scoring 395-7 against home side Warwickshire Seconds at Olton in 2015.

Kohler-Cadmore was a late inclusion in the side and he dominated an opening stand of 199 in 28.5 overs with Westbury, scoring 121 off 101 balls with four sixes and 16 fours.

But, after he eventually holed out to cover, Westbury upped the tempo and raced to 143 off 117 deliveries with 22 boundaries.

It was a career best Trophy score for Westbury as he celebrated signing a new contract earlier this week and he was within eight runs of his highest score in all competitions for the Seconds – 151 versus Gloucestershire in a three-day match at Cheltenham last summer.

He was eventually trapped lbw and then a quickfire 34 not out off 19 balls from Josh Dell propelled the Seconds to their formidable total.

Derbyshire went down fighting with Luis Reece and Charlie Macdonnell putting on 60 for the first wicket.

Then Harvey Hosein (87) and Tom Taylor (66) smashed 114 in 13 overs for the seventh wicket.

But both fell to Alex Hepburn who picked up a further two wickets to finish with 4-63 as Derbyshire closed on 355-9.

The Seconds have won all three Trophy matches against Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire and now Derbyshire.
