Seconds Suffer Fourth Successive Wash-Out

Seconds Suffer Fourth Successive Wash-Out

Worcestershire Seconds will be hoping for better fortunes with the weather when they take on Bristol University at Bristol CC in a 50 over friendly match on Thursday (11.30 start).

The county had been due to play the North Staffs South Cheshire League X1 at Stone CC today but the game was called off before the scheduled 11.30 start due to heavy rain.

It follows on from the wash-out of the final two days of the Second Eleven Championship match with Nottinghamshire at the Royal Grammar School, Worcester and no play in the Second Eleven Trophy game between the two sides on Friday.

Colin Munro, Brett D'Oliveira and Chris Russell, all members of the Worcestershire Rapids side which overcame Northamptonshire in the NatWest T20 Blast on Friday, had been scheduled to play at Stone.

Spinner and captain Shaaiq Choudhry and all-rounder Gareth Andrew were also named in the side.

Choudhry is regaining match fitness after a month out of action with a broken thumb while Andrew, who is suffering from a back problem, was due to play purely as a batsman.

The squad for Thursday's fixture is: Choudhry, Cessford, D'Oliveira, Russell, Harrison, Andrew, Hepburn, Whiles, Kohler-Cadmore, Twohig Mellor, Rhodes.

The Seconds next competitive match will be a Second Eleven Trophy encounter with Glamorgan at Kidderminster on Monday, June 16.

That will be followed by a three-day Championship match against Glamorgan at the same venue from June 17-19.
