Ed Barnard and his Scarborough team-mates suffered semi-final disappointment for the second time as they went down by four wickets to Claremont Nedlands in the Western Australia Cricket Australia first grade One-Day Cup.
The Worcestershire all-rounder had also been on the losing side at the same juncture of the T20 competition last month.
Barnard, who has been in excellent form with the bat, was dismissed for nine off 31 balls – batting at number four – after Scarborough had elected to bat.
Lochie Hardy (60) and Jacob Johnston (52 not out) were chiefly responsible for Scarborough totalling 185-8 in their 50 overs.
Barnard took the new ball in reply, swapping ends after bowling two overs before sending down another four tight overs in his initial burst.
Scarborough looked on their way to victory after reducing their opponents to 90-6.
But an unbroken partnership of 96 between captain and opener Nicholas Hobson (95 not out) and Jackson Edmondstone (38 not out) saw Claremont-Nedlands to victory in 42.3 overs.
Barnard returned for two final overs and his overall figures were 8-0-19-0.
Ben Twohig’s side, Southern Districts, lost out to Woodville in the battle for first innings points in a high scoring South Australia Cricket Association West End Men’s first grade clash.
Worcestershire all-rounder Twohig had scored a half century on the opening day and his side posted an imposing 397 all out on a very flat pitch which became even more batsman friendly on the second day.
Twohig dismissed opener Jacob Dickman for 28 with his first delivery but Woodville made light of their large target.
Opener Conor McInerney (142) – dropped in the slips off Twohig when on 70 – and Matthew Stiddard (152 not out) added 170 for the second wicket as Woodville reached 398-4.
Twohig finished with figures of 13-3-53-1.
