Jack Shantry again showed his liking for facing Oxford MCCU with another five wicket haul to earn Worcestershire a first innings lead of 155 on day two of the first class fixture in The Parks.
Then Worcestershire openers Daryl Mitchell and Brett D'Oliveira – with his highest first class score and maiden first class hundred – figured in a double century stand with both of them hitting centuries.
Mitchell went to his century off 126 balls with one six and 14 fours – the second 50 of which took only 36 deliveries.
Then D'Oliveira completed his ton from 121 balls with 11 fours out of 225-0 in the 45th over.
By the close Worcestershire had moved onto 234-0 from 47 overs with Mitchell on 116 and D'Oliveira 102 and the overall lead being 389.
D'Oliveira had been the first to 50 with the second of two fours in an over from Jack Grundy – from 66 balls with six boundaries.
But Mitchell was only one over behind in reaching his half century and in the process also brought up the 100 stand in 26.1 overs.
Shantry had produced the remarkable match figures of 31.3-19-26-10 in the corressponding fixture between the two sides 12 months ago.
And the left armer was in the same vein as he returned 5-46 from 15.1 overs as the students were dismissed today for 190 in 59.1 overs.
Debutant Josh Tongue added another wicket to the two he collected on the first evening to finish with 3-35 from 15 overs.
Ed Barnard – 2-53 – was the other wicket-taker.
It was Barnard who made the first breakthrough of the day after Oxford had resumed on 22-2 in having Calvin Dickinson (30) caught behind by keeper Ben Cox.
Then in the next over Lloyd Paternott was lbw to Shantry for a duck to leave Oxford on 55-4.
Shantry then came back into the attack in place of Tongue and his first two deliveries of the spell resulted in a double breakthrough.
Jack McIver (19) was caught by Brett D'Oliveira and then the Cox-Shantry combination accounted for Malcom Lake (0).
Cornelius Bodenstein survived the hat-trick delivery and, in partnership with Jack Grundy, provided the stiffest resistance to the Worcestershire attack.
The sixth wicket pair added 71 before Tongue earned his third success as Cox held onto another chance to end Grundy's fine knock of 53 at 164-7.
Without addition to the score, Cox again showed a safe pair of hands as Bodenstein (34) was undone by Barnard.
Then Shantry again struck quickly on his reintroduction to the attack to wrap up the innings.
Hassam Moseley (7) was trapped lbw to his second ball of the spell and Sam Weller (17) fell in the same manner.
Then came the Mitchell-D'Oliveira show for the remainder of the day and the pair gradually increased the tempo of the innings.
Mitchell's unbeaten 116 came from 157 balls with 15 fours and a six and D'Oliveira's 102 not out came off 125 deliveries with 11 boundaries.
