Worcestershire paceman Jack Shantry says a spell of global T20 cricket is a possible option for himself in the future as he stressed the importance of "keep challenging yourself and keep learning."
Shantry believes his big-hitting New Road team-mate Ross Whiteley is more than capable of playing in the Australian 'Big Bash' tournament.
And the 28-year-old Shantry, who picked up 57 County Championship wickets last summer, feels a taste of T20 cricket abroad could benefit himself as he strives to continually improve his game.
Shantry said: "We all know Ross is a fantastic hitter and I think Big Bash wouldn't be beyond his reach.
"It might be beyond my reach at the moment with the kind of players they are looking for and my bowling style probably isn't perceived to be as effective on those kind of pitches in Australia.
"But New Zealand T20, Bangladesh T20, the Pakistan T20 league they are now starting….all these things are kind of options along with going away to a winter in South Africa or Australia.
"You have to keep challenging yourself and keep learning. It is very important to have that open mindset about how you go about things.
"As soon as you stand still in this world and think you have made it, then you are stuffed straight away.
"You've got to keep on working and always continually trying to improve your game. That is something I like to carry on doing."
Shantry has spent this winter at home after utilising the 2014-2015 off season by playing for Greenvale Kangaroos Down Under.
He said: "I'd just bought a house and I was doing the house up so it was more of a personal decision to stay in England.
"But I certainly wouldn't rule out going away again in the future. Back to Australia? Well I don't know, maybe a 20-20 gig, that kind of thing."
