Sharp Names 15 Strong Squad As Rapids Gear Up For Hectic Period

worcestershire head coach kevin sharp has named a 15 strong squad for this evening’s home vitality blast clash with derbyshire falcons (4.30pm start) as the rapids gear up for three matches in the space of four days.

the rapids will be without official blast captain moeen ali who will be on second specsavers test duty with england against india at lord’s.

brett d’oliveira will resume the captaincy of the rapids in his absence for a game where the admission fee is just £1 for juniors and £10 for adults.

on loan nottinghamshire paceman luke wood is back available after not being eligible to face his parent club at trent bridge last weekend.

sharp has included tom fell in the squad and if selected he would make his rapids debut in the short format of the game.

fell impressed the watching sharp when making 65 and 120 not out for the seconds in two t20 matches versus yorkshire at marske cc last week.

all-rounder george rhodes is recalled to the rapids squad and second eleven captain ollie westbury also keeps his place.

the rapids will be looking to regain top spot in the north group with a victory this evening after durham jets moved a point clear at the top with yesterday’s win over leicestershire foxes.

worcestershire need a maximum of two win from the final four games to ensure a top four finish.

after this evening, the rapids take on the foxes at the fischer county ground tomorrow and then entertain notts outlaws at New Road on sunday (2.30pm start).

sharp said: “the games come thick and fast. we’ve just prepared the same as always. you don’t take anything for granted.”
