Sharp Says Players Will Benefit From Experiences Of Last Summer

Batting coach Kevin Sharp says Worcestershire's players will benefit long term from the experiences they gained in their battle against relegation in the County Championship last season.

The County were ultra-competitive in the top division for much of the campaign before narrowly losing out on their top flight status.

But Sharp, who is also the County's second eleven coach, believes the squad will have gleamed "a lot of good learning" from the events of 2015.

The former Yorkshire batsman said: "I have the sense what happened last season in getting relegated in the long run won't do us any harm.

"There will be a lot of good learning from what went on last season.

"Obviously there are parts of our game that they can improve on but there are also some very good things that we did.

"I don't think it will do us any harm in the long run.

"I think the lads will benefit from that experience – and we just look forward to what comes next.

"The squad, although relatively young, is getting more experienced now and there will be a lot more players challenging for positions."
