Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell is hoping for an exciting conclusion to the Specsavers County Championship clash with Gloucestershire at New Road.
Gloucestershire opened up the possibility of a positive result by declaring 75 behind on first innings and the home side reached 151-5 by the close thanks mainly to a Mitchell half century.
It gave them a lead of 226 before rain halted proceedings 24 overs early on Tuesday evening.
Mitchell said: "The game has opened up with them declaring. I thought it was a good move from them and hopefully that will create a game on Wednesday and something exciting.
"I think we are all sick of boring draws aren't we, so let's hope we have got a game of cricket on Wednesday.
"Obviously the closer they got to our total, it would have made it more difficult to play a proper game.
"We've got to start trying to win games of cricket and they are in the same boat. It wasn't a massive surprise (the declaration) but I thought it was a good move.
"They have similar thoughts to us in that you play cricket to win and that was probably the best way of doing it."
Mitchell made a 57 ball 50 to set a positive tone to the County's reply.
He said: "We set out to be positive and try and score the runs quickly and put ourselves in a position to declare as early as possible.
"Unfortunately we lost that hour or so with the bad light and rain so it has made life a little bit difficult.
"We would have liked to have been 300 plus ahead going into Wednesday morning.
"It is a pretty good wicket to bat on still. There is a little bit of uneven bounce. The odd one has gone up, the odd one has gone down.
"It's not easy to take wickets on but hopefully it can continue to deteriorate and hopefully on the final afternoon it starts to do a little bit more and even spins a little bit."
