Skipper Daryl Mitchell has become the first Worcestershire Rapids player to top 300 runs in this season's NatWest T20 Blast.

Mitchell will head into tonight's clash with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Northampton having scored 309 runs at an average of 44.14.

His tally includes three half centuries and the 30-year-old has reaped the benefits of moving up to open in the shortened format of the game after Moeen Ali's call-up by England.

Saeed Ajmal ended his spell at New Road with the best economy rate of the Worcestershire bowlers in the T20 Blast.

The Pakistan spin wizard conceded an average of just 6.09 runs per over and was also the second highest wicket-taker with 12 victims.
