Skipper Daryl Mitchell says that Moeen Ali's success with England drives on the other Worcestershire players to try and emulate his achievements.
Mitchell, Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes and chief executive David Leatherdale have paid tribute to the 27-year-old after he yesterday became one of the five Wisden Cricketers of The Year for 2015.
Moeen is the 17th Worcestershire players to be recognised by Wisden.
Mitchell, who has played alongside Moeen throughout his Worcestershire career, said: "It is brilliant, fantastic, and thoroughly deserved as well.
"It is a huge honour in cricketing circles.
"Mo's rise over the last 18 months in international cricket has been monumental.
"He is one of us, he is one of our mates, and it's fantastic to see.
"He is an inspiration for the other lads, absolutely. He is a great role model.
"Everytime you flick the TV on, and you see your mate out there batting or bowling for England, it is inspiring and just gives you that desire and that little bit extra two or three per cent to try and achieve it yourself.
"I think there are a few of our lads capable of doing it but you've got to live in the here and now and you've got to do it for Worcestershire.
"If you are going to play for England, it means you are playing exceptionally well for Worcestershire and we will be more happy if any of our guys do that."
Rhodes said: "I am delighted for him. The turning point was how suddenly he was quite at ease with himself and realised very, very quickly that if he worked hard, he could really make the most of his career and he has managed to do that so far.
"I'm very pleased he had such a good international calendar year and I think that was rewarded in his central contract but now he has got further reward in being one of the very few who has managed to make it to the Wisden Cricketer Of The Year.
"It is something he will treasure for many years to come and be able to tell his grandkids about in a few years time.
"By being at ease with himself, I mean just generally. He has got a very calm nature. His religion helps that and I think his belief makes him very calm generally as a person but that spills onto his cricket.
"It means when he is batting, he is very calm and at ease with himself and knows the things that are really important if you are going to succeed with the pressures of international cricket.
"I'm very pleased he has managed to stay in the England side because a lot of people have managed to get in the team, have a small little go at it and do not maintain those sort of standards. He has managed to do that which is brilliant."
Leatherdale said: "It is great. I think Moeen is the 17th on the back of Alan Richardson a couple of years ago and we've had recently Tom Moody, Graeme Hick, Steve Rhodes, Neal Radford, Phil Neale going back to Tip Foster in 1901.
"He has been brilliant for the club. He is very complimentary about the opportunity he has had to perform here and he is just a great ambassador.
"He has done fantastically well in the last 12 months and fully deserves it."
