Society Membership Figure Tops 200 Mark For 2018-2019

The Worcestershire Cricket Society (WCS) is continuing to grow and their membership has cracked the 200 barrier.

At a time when many Societies are facing a battle just to retain their current membership, the WCS are delighted to report that 41 new members have joined the WCS for 2018-2019.

This continues the trend of 2017-2018 when they attracted 51 new members.

Amongst the latest batch of newcomers is new Worcestershire CCC chairman Fanos Hira.

Tim Cox – the father of Worcestershire CCC wicket-keeper Ben Cox – has also joined.

WCS secretary Mike Hitchings said: “To get to the 200 mark in members is fantastic and another indication that the Society is flourishing.

“To have brought in 92 new members in the past 14 months is very encouraging and goes against the trend of many societies.

“We do pride ourselves on having an active membership drive and our updated bifolds have been a great help when trying to show people what the Society is all about and why they should join.

“But we are mindful of the fact that it is important not to stand still, and that it is inevitable you will lose a certain number of members through other commitments, moving away from the area etc, and we will continue to try and attract as many as we can.”

Membership is £15 per person or £25 for a double membership and covers all six winter cricket evenings held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Hick Pavilion.
