Spin Star Saeed Looks To Maintain Remarkable Lv = Cc Record For Worcs

Saeed Ajmal will be looking to continue his remarkable record in LV = County Championship cricket with Worcestershire when he launches his third spell of four-day cricket with the county against Warwickshire at New Road today.

The Pakistan spin star may have a remodelled action which he will employ in a first class match for the first time since it was given the green light by the ICC early in the New Year.

But he can draw upon his massive experience and knowledge plus the confidence of knowing he has taken 80 wickets in 12 previous Championship appearances for Worcestershire.

Ajmal first linked up with Worcestershire in 2011 as one of four overseas players employed that summer along with Damien Wright, Shakib Al Hasan and Kemar Roach.

He was primarily used as a T20 player but was available for three Championship matches and collected 17 wickets.

Ajmal played a major role in a crucial win against Sussex at Hove which helped Worcestershire to preserve their top flight status.

He returned last summer for the first half of the summer and this time his Championship return was 63 wickets from nine games and a key component in the promotion back to Division One.

It means over the two spells combined, Ajmal has a record of an average of 6.66 wickets per game.
