Worcestershire Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes gives his reaction to BBC Hereford-Worcester's Dave Bradley at the end of day one of the Specsavers County Championship match with Gloucestershire at Bristol.
Steve Rhodes said: "I thought for the first two sessions we were on top and did a really good job but credit to Gloucestershire.
"Hamish Marshall's innings was outstanding and a really fine 100 and the other lad, Noema-Barnett, gave him really ample support.
"It was a big partnership and we couldn't quite break it. I think our lads got a little bit tired, possibly we strayed away from the plans a little bit, but they tried hard and it wasn't to be and you've got to give credit to the opposition.
"It was a mighty fine 100 and it did look as if you would get value if you get in and something for our batters to look at is exactly that, that the conditions get easier once you've got your eye in."
On bowling first, Rhodes said: "We know the surface here and sometimes it will look as if it could do more than it will do. We took a chance.
"We felt if it was going to do anything, it would be in that first session, and we were hoping to try and get a few wickets down.
"It played like a typical Bristol wicket really. It probably played better than it looked in that session.
"Did we feel ring-rusty? No, there was some really good stuff from the lads. It was just that last session when it went away from us a little bit.
"I think leading into the (second) new ball cost us too many runs and then with the new ball it cost us too many runs again.
"That's not just the way we bowled. There was good batting from the opposition and when you've got two guys in, sometimes the new ball can come on nicely and they maximised it.
"It was a good game of cricket and for people who came and watched today, it was a good day's play because both sides went really hard and Gloucestershire came out on top on the day."
Gloucestershire centurion Hamish Marshall said: "There are some decent wickets around the country at the moment and it's important for batsmen to capitalise. We were in a spot of bother when I went in, which makes the century all the more satisfying.
"I haven't scored as many centuries as I would like and I don't know how many more I have in me so I'm going to enjoy the feeling. Kieran Noema-Barnett offered great support and I hope he can get to three figures tomorrow.
"We need to get ourselves in again in the morning and I would love to be out there with him if Kieran can reach a hundred."
