Super Worcestershire Rapids are through to the quarter-finals of the Royal London One-Day Cup after a 35 run victory over Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Trent Bridge and results elsewhere going in their favour.
The Rapids sealed fourth spot in the North Group via their success under the Duckworth-Lewis Method and the wash-out of Durham Jets away clash with Lancashire Lightning.
Skipper Daryl Mitchell's side finished level on points with the Jets but have a superior run-rate after their one-two success over Lancashire at New Road and now Nottinghamshire in the space of 24 hours.
The Rapids will have an away trip in the last eight on August 17 or 18 against either Somerset or Essex – depending on which team tops the South Group.
Worcestershire restricted Nottinghamshire to 284-8 in their 50 overs after Mitchell won the toss and put them into bat. Ed Barnard was the Rapids most successful bowler with 3-45 in his 10 overs.
Then an excellent unbroken second wicket partnership of 130 in 23.2 overs between Mitchell and yesterday's century-maker Tom Fell saw the Rapids to 138-1 from 24 overs before the elements opened for the second time in the innings.
Kyle Abbott made the first breakthrough for Worcestershire with Tom Kohler-Cadmore taking a superb diving catch low to his right to dismiss Michael Lumb (17) with 28 on the board.
Rikki Wessels and Brendan Taylor (21) added 50 before the latter holed out to Ed Barnard at mid on off spinner Brett D'Oliveira.
Wessels went to his half century off 67 balls with seven fours but in the same over he perished to George Rhodes with Joe Clarke pouching the chance at long on.
Dan Christian added 88 in 16 overs with Samit Patel as Nottinghamshire reached 200-3 in the 39th over but then Barnard struck twice in the space of three balls.
Patel (55 off 66 balls with three fours) was caught by Joe Leach off a top edge at deep square leg and then Greg Smith (0) perished to Rhodes at point.
Rhodes enjoyed another success when Christian (54 off 57 balls with two sixes and three fours) fell to Abbott at short third man to leave Notts on 211-6.
Steven Mullaney (29) and Chris Read (39) lifted Nottinghamshire's tally with a stand of 64 in seven overs.
Leach had Mullaney (29) caught in the deep by Barnard off Leach in the penultimate over and Barnard held onto a return catch from Read in the final over.
Rhodes finished with 2-37 from six overs, Abbott 1-56 from 10 and D'Oliveira 1-33 from 7.4.
When Worcestershire launched their reply, Kohler-Cadmore hit two boundaries but chopped Luke Wood's fourth delivery onto his stumps.
Mitchell and Fell then dominated proceedings to take the Rapids ahead of the required run rate under increasingly threatening skies.
Fell iniitally did the bulk of the scoring at at the end of the first powerplay had scored 34 out of 58-1 from 10 overs.
But Mitchell also then flourished before the players initially left the field at 76-1 from 14.1 overs.
When play resumed, the second wicket pair continued in the same fashion and Mitchell was unbeaten on 61 from 71 balls with seven fours and Fell 63 from 70 deliveries with 10 boundaries when the heavens opened again.
