The History Of The Ashes Heading To New Road

The History Of The Ashes Heading To New Road

This time next year the latest battle in 'The Ashes' will be in full swing – but the Worcestershire Cricket Society members will be able to recall past memorable contests at December's monthly meeting tomorrow evening.

The Pyemont Brothers will be presenting their 'History Of The Ashes' in the Graeme Hick Pavilion (7.30pm start).

Christopher and Peter Pyemont are retired schoolmasters from Sussex and will cover all facets of the oldest rivalry in cricket.

They will focus on the origins of the England-Australia fixture from 1877 and how the Ashes came into being five years later.

The presentation will highlight many of the great deeds of Ashes combatants such as WG Grace, Bradman, Hobbs, Larwood, Hutton, Miller, Laker, Trueman, Compton, Lillee, Thompson, Boycott, Snow, Botham, Border, Warne, McGrath, Flintoff etc, etc.

Famous Ashes series will be covered included the 'Bodyline Series' 'Botham's Ashes' and 2005.

It promises to be an entertaining and informative trip down memory lane in what is the Society's final meeting before the festive season.

A reminder that non Society members can attend for an admission charge of £3 per person.
