TIME TO RECHARGE, REVIEW AND REFLECT BEFORE REFOCUSING FOR LANCASHIRE GAME

worcestershire’s players are being given time to recharge their batteries before regrouping early next week to start preparations for the specsavers county championship match with lancashire at New Road on june 10.

the players will report back in on tuesday after a mini break following the royal london one-day cup and a trio of championship games with durham, lancashire and middlesex in quick succession.

it is also an opportunity for first team coach alex gidman and his staff to assess the early part of the campaign.

he said: “we wanted to treat this as a three-game block which finished this week and then have a week to see where we are at, where individuals are at and then we go again.

“it is also an opportunity for us as a coaching staff to sit down and see where we are at as a group and as individuals and see if we feel we need to make any changes.

“the lads need a bit of time away. it’s been a tough couple of weeks. they are due this little bit of a break but they will be back in early next week practicing and getting ready for the lancashire game.

“there is the women’s international here next sunday so we will do all our preparations for lancashire slightly earlier.

“we will have the weekend off, monday as well, and then start to get back into things and review what we’ve done so far, the good, the bad and the ugly, and then look at how we can try and move forward.”
