Tom Kohler-Cadmore was quick to praise the support he received from the Worcestershire lower order after scoring a career best 153 not out on day one of the Specsavers County Championship clash with Gloucestershire at New Road.
Kohler-Cadmore hit his fourth hundred in five innings in all competitions at the County's headquarters with his 262 ball knock containing 23 boundaries.
It helped rescue Worcestershire from 34-5 in early morning bowler friendly conditions.
But the 21-year-old insisted the contributions of Ben Cox (75), Ed Barnard (50) and Jack Shantry (26 not out) were just as crucial in steering Worcestershire to 341-8 from 96 overs by the close.
Kohler-Cadmore said: "It is good to get us to a competitive score now. Anything above 300 was one of our main goals as a side.
"It was good to get past that score and hopefully we can push on tomorrow morning. They bowled well early doors to be fair to them.
"The ball was moving around a lot and, as you kind of expect when you get put in, it is not going to be easy upfront.
"People weren't playing loose shots. We got good deliveries and it can happen in cricket."
Cox followed up his 69 in a crucial partnership with Joe Clarke in the draw game at Bristol with another invaluable knock.
Kohler-Cadmore said: "Coxy played unbelievably well supporting me. Especially after lunch, he was the main scorer in the partnership (of 155) and he took the pressure off me a lot.
"It was the same with Barny at the end and then Shants as well.
"They've all scored quickly and scored the fours and I just ticked over which is quite nice for me."
Barnard scored his maiden first class 50 from 78 balls with eight fours.
Kohler-Cadmore said: "He played for England Under-19s as a batsman. We all know how good he is and it's nice he has got a score now.
"Hopefully that kick starts his kind of belief in his batting.
"When he came in, it was still a iffy situation, 205-7. To then get us up pretty much to 300 is as crucial as myself and Coxy's partnership.
"Myself and Coxy got us out of a terrible place but if say we had got 200, 250, that is still not the greatest score whereas at least now we are up to competitive score and have given the bowlers something to bowl at.
"Hopefully we can then start with early wickets like they did."
As regards the route Worcestershire would have taken if given the choice, Kohler-Cadmore said: "We were going to bat although we did talk about the first hour being the tricky period because of the grass (on the wicket).
"But we feel there is enough in the pitch and it should be there the whole game and the cracks that were there this morning are only going to get wider with this weather.
"Hopefully later in the game it can go up and down more."
