Worcestershire Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes has named a 12 strong squad for the three-day first class fixture with Oxford MCCU in The Parks which gets underway tomorrow (Thursday).

The County have made one change from the group of players chosen for the two-day fixture with Somerset at Taunton Vale which was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Paceman Josh Tongue, who is in his first year as a full-time professional, comes into the party in place of Alex Hepburn.

Tongue tasted his first action at senior level during the pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi.

Rhodes said: "Josh Tongue is a good lad, he is a good all-rounder, he can bat, he can bowl, he has got movement in the air and reasonable control for a 17-18 year-old seamer.

"He is one that might surprise quite a lot of people."

With Matt Henry due to arrive at New Road next week, the County have plenty of seam bowling options with Charlie Morris, Tongue, Jack Shantry, Ed Barnard and Joe Leach all in the squad at The Parks.

Rhodes has been impressed this winter with batsman Alexei Kervezee who lost his place in the side mid-way through last season.

He said: "Alexei has had a very good winter and worked very hard. He's desperate to play and get a spot in the middle order.

"If he scores runs, then he probably deserves a crack there."

It will be another renunion with Oxford for Morris who made his first class debut for the University before establishing himself at New Road and taking 96 Championship wickets in the past two seasons.

Worcestershire won the corressponding fixture by an innings and 120 runs last summer with Shantry returning remarkable match figures of 31.3-19-26-10.
