“Tough Old Cookie” Cox To Have Fitness Test On Rib Injury

worcestershire keeper ben cox will have a fitness test tomorrow morning to determine whether he will be available to play for the rapids in the vitality blast clash with northamptonshire steelbacks at wantage road.

cox missed the specsavers county championship clash with somerset at New Road after suffering three broken ribs.

he had bravely battled on through the opening six matches of the blast campaign with the injury.

but cox’s superb run of 76 successive championship appearances came to an end because of the setback and his replacement alex milton scored a century on his debut in the competition.

worcestershire head coach kevin sharp said: “is ben cox fit for the blast? he is going to be having a test on friday morning.

“he is a really tough old cookie, is ben. he was in a lot of pain but he feels a lot better at the moment.

“he will have a test on friday morning and we will see what happens from there.”
